Should Married Men Go Home (movie for Playdate)

This is a version of the 1928 silent film 'Should Married Men Go Home' you can watch on the Playdate. 

It's a follow-up to the Playdate version of The Haunted House from last year, and is made partly to celebrate Public Domain Day 2024.

The framerate has been lowered to 10 FPS to keep the video size down (at higher framerates the resulting PDX was so big the Playdate couldn't sideload it).

As ever, the video was converted with Dave Hayden's excellent 1BitVideo encoder for MacOS. If you don't have MacOS then the online Playdate Video Encoder by HTeuMeuLeu is a good alternative!

CONTROLS:

A or B: Start the film and toggle between paused and playing.

LEFT or RIGHT: Go backward or forward one frame at a time (also pauses the film).

UP or DOWN: Jump back or ahead by a whole minute.

The CRANK: Spin the crank to manually control the playback - the faster you spin, the faster the film plays. Works forwards and backwards.

There's no quit option - just use the Playdate's menu button to return to the home screen when you're done.

Sideload it onto your Playdate with these instructions.

Note that this is a big PDX at around 180MB, which is pretty much the upper limit the Playdate sideloader can handle without timing out. It might take a couple of goes to sucessfully download. When testing, I had to place my Playdate right next to my Wi-Fi router for the download to go fast enough to beat the timeout.
